SMOKIN' CHOPS

Newcastle’s The Smokin’ Chops Jazz Quartet captures the barrelhouse vitality of Prohibition Era Music by playing its own unique, spontaneous, inventive and improvised style of Blues, Ragtime, New Orleans Jazz, Latin Jazz and Swing. With three of its members mastering more than one instrument, the band creates a rich and intriguing ensemble performance. The Smokin’ Chops Jazz Quartet is equally adept vocally as it is instrumentally, with solo singing and vocal harmonies of classic jazz standards represented in much of its repertoire.
The Smokin’ Chops Jazz Quartet presents their varied and extensive repertoire with humour and with a strong emphasis on Jazz as music for dancing.

SWINGMANIA

The Little Big Band

Since its formation over ten years ago, Swingmania has performed as a jazz duo, trio and, more recently, a quartet, at a wide variety of functions and venues including wakes and weddings.
REPERTOIRE: The Swingmania repertoire, which originally consisted of jazz standards from the 20’s to the 50’s, has grown to include blues and rhythm and blues. Many Latin standards including mambo, cha cha, samba and bossa nova rhythms have been added to the extensive repertoire. Some humorous swing arrangements of material by the Beatles, the Kinks and others are occasionally played, depending on the mood of the audience.
