About Me

David Baker Jazz: I am a jazz guitarist and vocalist with a particular passion for Prohibition Era Jazz (1920 to 1933), Swing Era Jazz, Jug and Medicine Show Bands, and Latin Jazz. Major influences on my guitar playing have been diverse, but include Django Reinhardt, Joe Pass and Luis Bonfa. Vocal influences have been from stylists as varied as Sinatra, Joao Gilberto, Fats Waller and Tony Bennett. I have fronted numerous ensembles of my own and played with numerous other bands from small laid back gigs to some of the biggest festivals in Australia. I also write produce direct and perform Radio Play Jazz Cabarets at various locations around the Hunter and Central Coast Regions. I currently perform with The Smokin’ Chops Jazz Quartet.
